横川林道

仙台市北方の定義如来の北を周回する林道。横川岳の山頂付近をかすめ、峠には登山口もある。定義如来から横川岳の登山口までの交通量は非常に多い。この区間の路面はフラット、幅員もやや広い。
峠の登山口を過ぎると路面はやや荒れていて、ところどころは悪路、幅員も狭くなる。沢渡りが２カ所ある。
升沢林道

種沢林道、大平桑沼林道との丁字路から旗逆野営場までを結ぶ林道。観光客の車の交通量が異常なほど多い。路面は荒れ気味で土の路面に深い溝があり、ところどころに岩が露出している。乗用車は皆、車の底を路面の岩に打ち付けながら走っている。
種沢林道

升沢林道を通らずに大平桑沼林道へと至る林道。路面は深い溝が多くあり、岩も多数露出している。車の交通量がとても多く、皆下回りを岩に打ち付けながら走っている。
滝の原蘭山林道

高野原林道の中間付近から七ツ森へ抜けて、国道４５７へ至る林道。高野原林道側は断続的に舗装化されている。このエリアでは唯一交通量の少ない林道。
大平桑沼林道

泉ヶ岳スキー場と升沢林道、種沢林道を結ぶ林道。一部区間の路面は深い溝の悪路。観光客の車がとても多い。
種沢林道、升沢林道との丁字路には湧水があり、沢山の人が汲みに訪れている。
高野原林道

国道４５７の高野原集落を抜けて、泉ヶ岳に至る林道。勾配は緩やかで路面もフラット、交通量が非常に多い。
築沢林道

鳴子町と田代高原を結ぶ林道。
鳴子町から屏風岩の間は交通量が多いが、屏風岩から宇土沼林道までは殆ど交通量はない。
ほぼ全区間鬱蒼とした森林の中を駆け抜けるが、その中で突然視界が開けるのが屏風岩なので、とても印象的。
屏風岩周辺では営林作業、整備作業をよく行っている。
路面はフラットだが、所々荒れた箇所がある。
地下水がしみ出していて、晴れが続いていても水たまりができている。

宇土沼林道

宮崎町から田代高原へ抜ける林道。
途中築沢林道との分岐がある。
麓区間の路面はフラット、幅員も広く走りやすいが、中腹から未整備となる。
2000年からの路面欠落箇所は取材時でも放置されているが、路面欠落箇所の除草はされているので、多少は走りやすくなっている。
宮崎町側の入り口はとても解りづらく、「切込焼」の窯元を目印にするとよい。

ピングシ林道からのびる支線の一つ。
分岐箇所に山形県に抜けられないとわざわざ表示されているので、逆に通り抜けられそうに感じてしまう。
