東村の小中西山林道と県道２６８を結ぶ林道。
入り口はどちら川も分かりづらい。
きつい勾配が連続、ヘアピンが多い。
県道２６８側には川渡り箇所があり、雨の後などは通過には細心の注意が必要。

利根村の平川集落を過ぎて、皇海山へ伸びる行止の林道。
平川の崖の上を走るので、視界が広く展望を楽しめる。行止の林道だが、交通量は意外と多い。
行止箇所では営林作業を行っている。

国道120と赤倉栗生林道をむすぶ林道。
小沢林道と赤倉栗生林道の丁字路から旧道にかけては現在舗装化工事のため、通行不可、日曜日も大型重機が作業をしている。

袈裟丸山登山道がある全面舗装済みの林道。峠が登山道の入り口となっていて、トイレや東屋があり、飲料できる湧水もある。
小中新地林道との丁字路から登山道入り口までは落石が多く荒れている。

県道15、粕尾峠と古峰ヶ原神社、大芦をむすぶ一部未舗装の県道。
通常はゲートにて閉鎖されている。
峠付近に東屋と休憩所がある。

赤倉栗生林道

赤倉林道と利根村をむすぶ新規開設中の林道。
南側は小沢林道の出口ともなっているが、現在、舗装化工事のため通行は不可能。
赤倉林道と小沢林道との間の区間はまだ完成していないため、行止。

県道５８の古峰ヶ原高原から分岐するショートダート。舗装化工事中だが、取材時点では通行制限はない。
古峰ヶ原から足尾方面に抜けるには近道。

福島県金山町本名と上川村室谷を結ぶ林道。
新潟県側は通年舗装化工事のため閉鎖されているので、通常は通過することはできない。
ただバイクでなら、早朝や日曜日なら通過が可能の時もあるが、クルマの通過は工事の関係で不可能。
福島県側はフラット路面でとても走りやすく、ギャップすらほとんど無く、麓区間は勾配は少なく、コーナーも緩やか。
所々に旧道の後が見受けられる。
峠の前後は勾配がきつくなり、ヘアピンも連続してくる。
わずかだが、荒れた箇所もある。
峠からは会津の山波を遠望できる。峠は大きな広場となっているので、野営をすることも可能。
新潟県側に入ると、しばらくはフラットで下りの道が続く。時折視界が開け、山塊を見ることができる。
断続的に舗装された区間を過ぎると、工事箇所がある。
舗装区間は毎年数kmづつのびていて、新潟県側の全面舗装化も間近と思われる。
取材時点では、福島県側は台風の影響で大荒れに荒れていた。

馬坂林道

栃木県の川俣湖畔を走る林道。
ただ馬坂林道は正式には田代山林道との分岐点から帝釈山林道との分岐点までを指し、名称も馬坂峰越連絡林道という。
なお、発音は「まさか」と読む。「うまさか」は俗音。
川俣湖畔から帝釈山峠そして檜枝岐村までを正式には林道川俣桧枝岐線と呼ぶが、一般的には川俣湖畔から田代山林道との分岐点までを馬坂林道と呼んでいる。
とても走りやすい林道でたくさんのライダーやドライバーに愛されているほか、渓流釣り、山菜取り、キノコ取りの車も多数走っている。
川俣湖畔から帝釈山林道との分岐までは、等高線にそって走るため勾配はなく、峰や谷にそったきついヘアピンコーナーの連続となる。
帝釈山林道との分岐を過ぎると土呂部峠へ向かって一気に高度を上げていく。
最高所でも1000mと標高が低いため、栗山村のエリアではゴールデンウイーク前に全線開通される唯一の林道でもある。
